Terms and Conditions
To undertake a Refereeing qualification there is an expectation of the individual’s commitment; completing this qualification takes TIME and EFFORT.
There are 5 Modules to complete during the current footballing season; this will mean if the candidate is still playing football, they will need to commit to refereeing INSTEAD OF PLAYING for the period of their respective training.
Until the 5 modules are completed you are not a qualified referee! There are also additional costs involved to the individual over and above that of the course fee to complete the course.
The purchase of a complete referees’ kit and flags (about £70.00)
An expectation the candidate to join the local Referee Branch (£25 - £30)
After enrolment on a referee course, a Pre-Study pack will be issued from the Kent FA a couple of weeks prior to Module 1. The individual needs to complete the Pre-Study pack before attending the course.
If you are Under 16, complete the Safeguarding Children DVD and present the questionnaire to the instructor at Module 1.
Module 1. This is an introduction session with an initial assessment being undertaken to see if the students have undertaken the pre-learning study pack.
Module 2. The main teaching period where the laws of the game are explained to enable the referee to pass the examination and referee with confidence.
Module 3. Examination: Normally a 2 hour process with results given out on the night.
Module 4. Mentoring: The student needs to undertake a minimum of 6 games of which 3 are required to be mentored by a Kent FA qualified Mentor. Candidates may have to to travel.
Module 5. Until the students have completed all the modules above and attended this session they will not obtain the qualification. This is a session of approx. 2 hours duration
expanding firstly on the problems they may have encountered plus additional training.
To keep the qualification you will need to register and pay a fee to the Kent County Football Association and the local Referee Branch every season.
If you feel you are able to commit the time and effort and resources to refereeing as described above, we look forward to seeing you.
